🌿 Lawachara National Park - Heart of
Sylhet
Lucked away amid the
lush greenery of Sreemangal in Moulvibazar, Lawachara National Park stands as
one of Bangladesh’s most captivating natural treasures. Covering over 1,200
hectares of tropical forest, this eco-paradise is best known for its towering
trees, diverse wildlife, and the soothing symphony of birds that echo through
its canopy.
A Forest Full of Life
The park is a haven
for over more than 460 species of plants and animals. It’s the only place in
Bangladesh where you can spot the Western Hoolock Gibbon, an endangered primate
swinging gracefully between the trees. Visitors may also encounter capped langurs,
slow lorises, barking deer, and colorful reptiles. For birdwatchers, Lawachara
is heaven—hornbills, woodpeckers, and over 200 other bird species make every
walk an adventure.
Beyond Nature – People

What makes Lawachara
unique is not just its biodiversity but also its living heritage. Inside the
forest, small Khasi villages (Punji) exist in harmony with nature, where
visitors can experience tribal life, taste local foods, and witness sustainable
traditions passed down for generations.
